BOM (Broadcasting Outer Module)

Levil Aviation

The BOM (Broadcasting Outer Module) is an aerodynamic pod that mounts underneath the wing of the aircraft and measures AHRS, GPS, ADS-B in, AoA, Data Recording, and pressure sensors transmitted wirelessly to the cockpit. It provides an affordable solution that gives pilots the peace of mind they need to be able to safely overcome any instrument malfunction or related emergency. It's also an affordable way to modernize a vintage aircraft with no electrical system and no wires to be run through the aircraft.

What makes the BOM Special?

  • Wireless Platform offering iOS/Android compatibility
  • High-performance AHRS and solid-state technology
  • ADS-B Receiver for weather and traffic
  • The Angle of Attack (AOA)

  • Automatically power on/off with the vibration of the engine
  • Heated Pitot Static for indicated airspeed
  • Small and lightweight, 10” x 3.7” x 1.8” and a total weight of 1 lb
  • SD Card

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: Does the BOM have an ADS-B out?
Answer: The BOM doesn't apply for ADS-B out since it is self-contained and not wired to the aircraft.

Question: Does the BOM have a warranty?
Answer: Yes, your unit is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase.

Question: What is the drag coefficient of the BOM?
Answer: This aerodynamic design only produces 0.175 lbs of force at 100 knots and 0.7 Lbs of force at 200 knots.

Question: What apps is the BOM compatible with?
Answered: The BOM is compatible with our AHRS Utility App (free of subscription), iFly GPS, Aerovie, iEfis, EasyVFR, Fltplan, FlyWise Efis, iFlyPlanner, Naviator, Sky-Map, Xavion, ForeFlight, Avare, WingX Pro, Skydemon, Air Navigation Pro, FlyQ, and many more!

Question: Can I mount it on a certified aircraft?
Answer: Yes, the BOM is NORSEE Approved. NORSEE is a production approval that allows Levil Aviation to legally sell units for installation on certified aircraft.

Question: Can I get weather information?
Answer: The BOM has real-time weather and traffic with an optimal high-quality ADS-B receiver. It also maximizes reception while maintaining low power consumption. There is no need for remote antennas. The BOM captures the weather and traffic information even where other devices won't reach. Satellite weather is not available.

Question: Is it easy to install?
Answer: Yes, the installation was made easy by eliminating wires altogether and making the BOM a completely wireless interface system.

Installation requires:

  1. Remote location: Underneath the wing or anyplace away from propeller backwash.
  2. Positioned close to the leading edge of the wing (for GPS reception).
  3. Align the BOM with the wing core
Once it is installed, the BOM connects via Wi-Fi to a tablet inside the cockpit and data can be displayed on multiple Apps thanks to its open protocol.

Question: What is the calibration process?
Answer: Once in the air, calibrate the AOA, Airspeed, and attitude on our AHRS utility app.

Question: What about ice?
Answer: The BOM has a heated pitot-static system which is suitable for any condition (a nice-smooth day to light icy weather).

Question: Can I store my flight data?
Answer: All flights are stored inside an SD card which you can access anytime to replay, review, analyze, and share. Recording features are also useful for flight schools,

Question: Is it self-charging?
Answer: Yes, with its high-quality turbine and incredible design the BOM is able to self-power at a low speed and even recharge its internal battery as the aircraft picks up more speed!
